What is Graphlock?
GraphLock is a scientific and graphing calculator app with a patent pending Lockdown Mode – meaning no calls, no texts, no internet, just the calculator! Making it an affordable option specifically designed to be used in class and on exams.
How did you come up with your idea? What was the inspiration?
Our founder, Mallory, was a Math Professor for eight years and witnessed how the high cost of this required calculator was creating inequality in her classroom, made learning too expensive for most, and made STEM Education exclusive. She decided to find an affordable option, giving all students the same opportunity to reach their full potential. GraphLock is the calculator students need, on the device they already have, which also upholds classroom and testing integrity with its unique lockdown mode. Team GraphLock’s mission is to help make STEM Education more accessible for all students.
What are your most notable accomplishments?
GraphLock won the Social Impact Award through United Ways and the Audience Choice Award at Get Started Tucson. We were also the only U.S. EdTech Company chosen for the SEKLabs Program in Madrid, Spain. GraphLock was featured on The Discovery Channel and is one of the 64 finalists for Venture Madness.
How has ASU helped your venture progress?
We couldn’t be more excited to be back connected with ASU and a part of the Venture Devils Program. Our mentor has provided us with a wealth of knowledge already and will help us in our marketing to scale our product. We have also been connected to different educational leaders and professors through Venture Devils and they are helping us to get better connected to the community.
